We all know when it comes to joining a theme camp at Burning Man we have many options. So thank you for considering joining Porta Party. Also know that you don't have to join a camp to go burning man and to have an amazing time.

By joining us you are helping Porta Party develop and grow. 2020 marks our 5 year anniversary as a placed theme camp. We are a successful placed theme camp because everyone in our camp understands and helps. This is how we as a camp can in turn share with Black Rock City our gift. We are an interactive camp with a gathering & lounging space, food, music and more. We also have an art car called "Hel's Diner". Everyone signs up for at least two shifts in various needed areas of camp. Whether it's the early arrival crew, the late exiting LNT group or on playa crew, everyone is an integral part. We also have the one & only remote controlled porta-potty on the playa called "Baby" that interacts with people.

So thank you for considering joining Porta Party and Hel's Diner.​ If you wish to camp with us in 2020 please start by filling out this short QUESTIONNAIRE and read this entire page. Remember "Radical Self Reliance" so come prepared with food for yourself and everything you need to survive the week and to have fun. Everything you will experience beyond that is BONUS!

Porta Party was placed at 6:00 & D in 2019, 9:00 & H in 2018, 8:30 & A in 2017, 9:50 & D in 2016 and 9:45 & C in 2015. Our art car “Hel’s Diner” received it’s night license it’s first year to the playa in 2018. GO TEAM!!!!

NOTICE:  In the spirit of decommodification our camp will not accept RV or trailer drop off and pick up for your convenience. You must drive in your own vehicle and drive it out yourself. NO EXCEPTIONS!

​

Here are what your camp donations go towards. 

​

  • Theme Camp Placement – a dedicated spot in a placed camp at a great location and an instant 100 friends.

  • Year round planning and coordination

  • Remote Controlled Porta-Potty maintenance, annual signage, upgrades, transportation & storage

  • Repairs where needed for existing equipment and year round storage. (in 2020 we will transfer our essential camp equipment to a 8'x20' storage container that will be delivered to the playa and stored year round in Reno)

  • Art Car build, transportation, storage, tune up, cleaning, repairs, registration & insurance (in 2020 the front suspension needs to be repaired along with the rear jet-air suspension leak and passenger side exhaust manifold replacement.

  • On Playa fuel for Art Car & generators (we need a secondary camp generator)

  • Camp trailer storage, transportation to and from playa plus truck fuel.

  • Common dining area, shade structure, couches & folding tables

  • Camp lighting & lighting upgrades for 2020

  • Outdoor shower & draining of holding tank - (bring your own water - 1 gallon per shower) DO NOT DUMP ANYTHING IN THE SHOWER!!

  • NEW in 2020 breakfast smoothies (bring your own cup)

  • Camp Dinners -  5 Camp Dinners (Monday-Friday), Sunday Camp Potluck (Have your own plates, bowls & utensil)  -  NOTE: This is not a service. These are people in our camp gifting to the camp and community. Food times are announced on the events page.

  • Common cooking area, stove, propane, BBQ (clean up your mess and take everything you brought with you)

  • Bubble machines & bubble juice, art car smoke machine & juice

  • Our food gift to the playa in 2020 is 2 hours of serving organic fruit & almond milk smoothies

  • Camp freezers and dedicated generator (freezers & generators are not for personal use - they are for what we gift to the playa ONLY)

  • Camp flags, flag lighting & spray paint

  • Nevada food permit and one time event permit

  • Storage Bins

  • Increased shaded dining area & kitchen

  • Camp stickers and signage

  • Camp sound system & sound up-keeping (something breaks every year unfortunately)

  • Camp Kegerator (2), 4 kegs of premium beer (maybe more)

  • Camp websites updating & management

  • Food & liquids for camp set up, tear down & LNT crew

  • Home voyage

  • Post Burn dusting and clean up of art car and all camp equipment.

  • End of year taxes and filing for the non-profit.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Burning Man requires a great deal of effort, planning & work on your part and on ours.

  • Respect everyone!

  • Know the 10 priciples

  • Fill out the camp questionnaire

  • Camp Donations – Cost Share (non-refundable & non-transferable)

  • Volunteer for at least 2 shifts by filling out the volunteer signup sheet. (link coming soon)

  • After you have joined camp you'll receive a link to input your logistics info. If you are coming in a group, only the driver from your group needs to fill this out and list everyone in the group. Please list what you are bringing and the size (yurt, shade structure, tent, rv, trailer, car, etc.)

  • You are required to pick up after yourself and LEAVE NO TRACE. If you bring something for decoration or for your own comfort like a bike, chair or table, you must take it back. (if you fail to pick up after yourself you will not be invited back next year)

  • NO CARPETS. DO NOT BRING CARPETS. They are cause for too much debris. 

  • We have no common garbage cans this year and for good reason. if you take back what you bring there is no need for garbage cans.

  • Dedicate at least 2 hours to walk around the camp before you depart to pick up MOOP. Your camp area MUST BE SPOTLESS and raked. We have rakes on site for you to use.

  • Bring everything you need for your stay and be sure to bring something to share with the community. For one week we live in a gifting community. This is a community based effort with radical self reliance being key and gifting being an integral part.

  • Download the free whatsapp on your phone so you can be part of the ongoing planning and chat before the burn.

  • LEAVE NO TRACE • RAKE YOUR CAMP • TAKE YOUR GARBAGE BAGS WITH YOU.

  • If you traveled from far and don’t want to take your bike back, find the on playa bicycle donation center and donate your bike there. Do not leave your bicycles in our camp for us to deal with.

Generators & Fuel

We do not provide a power grid. We do have the facilities to charge cell phones, cameras and batteries. Ask in the group chat once you are on board about these possibilities. Please DO NOT under any circumstances unplug anything from the camp generators in order to connect your device. If you are bringing a generator please tell us ahead of time so we can place you somewhere as not to disturb your neighbors. Bring extra fuel for your generator needs and read the fuel safety guidelines

Camp Dues & Cost Share • $500  

We are reducing our camp size to 100 people max in 2020. Because we use the camp dues right away for supplies, transportation and to finish the mutation of our art car "Hel's Diner", etc. they are non-refundable. The camp dues are how we share the cost in making our camp happen. Making the camp donation guarantees you a spot at Porta Party. You still need to obtain a BM Ticket. Camp dues in 2020 are $500.  Your camp dues are not transferable to anyone else incase you can't make it. NO EXCEPTIONS!!! So please join Porta Party only if you can commit and help make this camp happen in 2020.

Burning Man is about 10 days from start to finish and longer if you come in early and stay late with the crew. At $500 camp cost share, that's only $50 a day and you help create such an amazing camp that offers so much to both the individual and to our community. We also have a lot of great things within camp like a shower, kitchen, 5 dinners, a few kegs of premium beer and an art car, etc. It's next to impossible to find these amenities and your camp site for $50 a day. This year we are gifting organic fruit smoothies with Almond milk and protein powder. More details to come. We have to make this happen together by sharing the cost.

DGS Tickets (Directed Group Sale)

Directed Group Sale tickets are available only for camp core members. If you wish to join our build, tear down or LNT crew in 2020 we will help you out by making available to you access to purchase a ticket and a vehicle pass outside of the lottery system. This means you are guaranteed to have a ticket you can purchase without having to wait online and hoping you'll get in with the online system.  You won't have to waste time on craigslist or any other sites either. DGS tickets are only made available while supplies last and after you have joined camp and made your camp cost share donation.

ALL CAMP DONATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED BY Tuesday August 25, 2020 AT 12:00 NOON unless we are full before then. After that we will no longer be able to process donation and therefore guarantee placement. Once approved you'll receive the donation link. All kick back's must be signed up for before Burning Man. This means if you did not sign up for it you will not be receiving anything back. All kick back's will be made within a week after the burn.
